The new KGM Torres EVX Alpha arrives on the market as an evolution of the South Korean electric SUV launched in 2023 , including a series of updates focused on optimizing both the driving experience and its on-road performance. With notable improvements in range, connectivity, and interior features , this version aims to be a competitive alternative within the mid-size electric SUV segment.

With a look that retains its strong and distinctive aesthetic , inspired by high-end SUVs, the KGM Torres EVX Alpha now presents a more balanced option for daily use and outdoor getaways. It maintains its adventurous essence but adds that extra touch of technology and efficiency. And to highlight this extra touch, the marketing and communications team has added the 'Alpha' moniker to the already familiar commercial name.

Renewed exterior design

In terms of design, the new Torres EVX Alpha maintains its robust presence but adds details that reinforce its sporty image . The new 20-inch diamond-cut wheels give it a more dynamic look without breaking the stylistic consistency that has characterized the model since its debut.

The rest of the bodywork remains virtually unchanged , with sharp lines and ground clearance that maintains its crossover spirit. A design that, while reminiscent of certain premium rivals, doesn't forget to preserve its own identity, further accentuated by the changes introduced.

New technological features and connectivity…

The Korean SUV has also received an infotainment upgrade with the “Athena 2.0” system, a new graphical user interface (GUI) developed by KGM . This system is presented on a new 12,3-inch central navigation screen , which improves usability and visual clarity, especially while driving.

Among the new features, the inclusion of over-the-air (OTA) updates stands out , keeping the vehicle's software up-to-date without the need for a visit to a workshop . This advancement provides greater user autonomy and a smoother user experience. In addition, the new 'KGM Link' connectivity service allows for remote control of various vehicle functions via a mobile phone.

Advances in comfort and insulation

In terms of comfort, the Torres EVX Alpha introduces mechanical and structural improvements that enhance the onboard experience. It features a frequency- sensitive damping (SFD) valve system, developed to adjust the suspension response based on weight and road conditions. This allows for more stable handling, especially with a full load or on uneven terrain.

In addition, sound insulation has been improved by extending the use of double-glazed acoustic glass—previously reserved for the windshield—to the driver and passenger windows. This measure reduces both outside noise and vibrations , improving the ride quality.

For lovers of surround sound, the ALPINE brand audio system is included as standard from the entry-level versions , allowing even the most basic configurations of the model to offer an outstanding level of entertainment.

Increased autonomy and efficiency…

One of the main improvements to the Torres EVX Alpha is its electric propulsion system. This new version incorporates an 80,6 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, replacing the previous 73,4 kWh unit. Thanks to the increased energy capacity, the vehicle achieves a range of up to 452 kilometers per charge, according to combined cycle testing and with 18-inch wheels.

Price and market positioning…

According to information from South Korea, the Torres EVX Alpha is priced between approximately €36.000 and €48.000 , depending on the chosen trim level and taking into account government incentives. This price point positions it as a viable alternative to electric models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5 , the Kia EV6 , and the Skoda Enyaq.

However, KGM Mobility aims to differentiate itself by combining design, range, standard equipment , and a competitive price . Even so, KGM has made it clear that this new version of the Torres is not simply a facelift, but a direct response to the growing number of competitors in the European electric SUV market.
