The pickup truck sector is beginning its own electric revolution with the arrival of the new Isuzu D-Max EV . This model bursts onto the European market as a zero-emissions alternative for vehicles designed for heavy-duty work and the most demanding off-road tasks. After several years of success with diesel engines , the Japanese manufacturer has now decided to embrace electrification, maintaining the robust essence of the D-Max but adapting it to the future of mobility.
With its sights set on the second half of 2025, Isuzu is preparing the commercial debut of the all-electric version in Europe, where it will be a pioneer among battery-powered mid-size pickups. The vehicle promises to maintain the work capacity and reputation for reliability that characterize the D-Max range , but with a design adapted to new environmental regulations and the needs of professionals looking to reduce their carbon footprint.

Visually, the D-Max EV largely respects the silhouette and appearance of the diesel model , although it introduces some distinctive elements that reveal its new EV powertrain. The front grille adopts a design specific to the electric version and integrates the charging port in the area traditionally occupied by the fuel filler neck. The specific EV emblem and the Norwegian Blue color , visible only on this variant, along with gloss black details and new 18-inch alloy wheels, reinforce its unique identity.
Mechanics: dual motor and all-wheel drive…
The heart of the Isuzu D-Max EV consists of two electric motors, one per axle, which together deliver between 188 and 189 hp (140 kW) and 325 Nm of maximum torque . Thanks to this system, it features permanent all-wheel drive , thus maintaining its off-road capabilities. The announced figures include acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 10,1 seconds and a top speed limited to between 128 and 130 km/h.
The model is equipped with a 66,9 kWh lithium-ion battery , which, according to WLTP homologation, allows for a range of up to 263 kilometers on a single charge . This range may be sufficient for certain professional uses, although it is not designed for long journeys without recharging. It supports AC charging at 11 kW, taking approximately 10 hours for a full charge , while DC fast charging at 50 kW allows you to go from 20% to 80% in about an hour.
Off-road capabilities and dimensions…
In terms of work and adventure capabilities, the D-Max EV maintains a ground clearance of 210 mm and off-road angles (approach 30,5º and departure 24,2º), as well as a wading depth of 600 mm. It can carry over a ton and tow up to 3,5 tons, matching the specifications of diesel pickups. Its dimensions remain at 5,28 meters long, 1,87 meters wide, 1,79 meters high, and a wheelbase of 3,12 meters , making it suitable for a wide range of professional uses.
An interesting point is the presence of a rear suspension specifically designed for the electric model , which improves dynamics both on and off the road compared to the diesel's leaf spring system, and also manages to reduce noise and vibrations in the cabin.
The driving experience is enhanced by several driving modes adapted to different situations : Eco mode, regenerative braking adjustable to various levels, and a specific 'Rough Terrain' mode for low-grip surfaces. The 18-inch wheels and 265/60 R18 tires aim to provide the best balance between grip and off-road capability.
Equipment, technology and safety…
The Isuzu D-Max EV will be available in two trim levels . The entry-level version will include features such as chrome trim, bi-LED headlights, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, an 8-inch multimedia screen, a 7-inch digital driver display , leather upholstery, heated seats, and a 6-speaker sound system. The higher-spec variant will offer a 9-inch central touchscreen, an electrochromic rearview mirror, and an upgraded 8-speaker audio system , combining dark interior materials and exterior accents.
As for assistance and safety systems, the entire range will include an ADAS technology package with devices such as autonomous emergency braking, collision alert, lane keeping and other active assistants , improving protection both in urban journeys and in rural or construction areas.
Availability and release…
Pre -orders for the Isuzu D-Max EV are scheduled to begin in the second half of 2025 in Europe and the UK , with the first deliveries expected between February and March 2026. The launch could later expand to other regions, such as Asia-Pacific and Australia. Pricing has not yet been confirmed , but it will be more expensive than the diesel versions , which start at around €47.000.
