Glickenhaus Announces Its Boot Pickup Is Better Than The F-150 Lightning

Just a few hours ago, we told you about the new, and spectacular, Ford F-150 Lightning . This electric pickup truck is positioning itself as the best and most versatile on the market, but its rivals won't make things easy for it. Among all the brands that want to challenge it, two stand out: Tesla and Rivian . But they aren't the only ones who want a piece of the pie, because in this booming segment, there are other players looking for their moment in the spotlight.

If you follow us, you're probably more or less up to date on Glickenhaus's activities . This American manufacturer has been announcing the development of an impressive hydrogen-powered pickup truck for some time now . This project is called the Boot Pickup , and we've already shared some details about it. Well, the head of this company hasn't held back and has spoken about his model and the Blue Olive. What do you think he said? Stay tuned.

Glickenhaus Says His Hydrogen Pickup Is Better Than The Ford F-150 Lightning

If you take a look at James Glickenhaus's Facebook profile , you can read his opinion. First, he posts two images illustrating what the pickup truck they're working on will look like. Then, he explains that both models are electric , but their design is different. Ford's needs batteries to store electricity, while his will use a hydrogen fuel cell.

So far, nothing new under the sun, but things get interesting next. According to the explanation, the two-door (single-door) version will have a range of about 1.200 miles (1.931 kilometers). Meanwhile, if we choose the four-door (full-size) version, the range is reduced to about 600 miles (965 kilometers). This is because the cargo space varies depending on the type of bed and the required interior room.

Glickenhaus wants to run the Baja with the new SCG 010 Zero. Can he?

And you might be wondering , would refueling this model be feasible? Well, taking advantage of this "speech," Glickenhaus proposes an idea. Apparently, he proposes a "refueling solution that will be available worldwide 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year." The problem with this brilliant "idea" is that it doesn't offer any details on how it could work and, above all, how it could be technically and economically viable.

Furthermore, he invites Tesla and Ford to join him in this endeavor. He also doesn't forget to mention his sporting successes in the Baja. In any case, despite his audacity, we must acknowledge that Glickenhaus's approach is more in line with what the customer is looking for. The hydrogen fuel cell recharges faster than a battery , providing greater freedom of movement. Best of all, neither Tesla nor Ford has taken up this proposal or responded to it.

Could it be because they're holding something back? Time will tell… although we have a feeling Glickenhaus won't be able to sell their Boot Pickup at the same price as their rivals . What a shame…
