The SUV craze has forced brands to completely reinvent themselves. One of the companies that has undergone the most significant evolution is the American brand Jeep , and the proof is in its model range. The latest releases from the American automaker demonstrate how the management team has successfully scaled developments and, moreover, embraced electrification. All of this while remaining focused on markets where sales are growing the most and where they can capitalize on opportunities to increase their presence.
One of the countries that could bring Stellantis the most success is India . Asia is an economic powerhouse that, if forecasts hold true, will far surpass the United States and Europe. That's why the Italian-American-French group has set to work developing exclusive models for the region. One of those arriving soon is the new Jeep Meridian , a compact SUV that will offer plenty of interior space.
The Jeep Meridian is an adaptation, for India, of the Mercosur Commander…
The new Jeep Meridian represents another step in the internationalization of the brand specializing in off-road vehicles and SUVs. To announce its official debut, the Indian division has orchestrated a teaser campaign on its social media channels. They've published photos and videos showing the Meridian heavily camouflaged. And to be honest, you can't see much, but one thing seems clear: its design and concept are related to another well-known model.
Remember when we introduced you to the Jeep Commander for Mercosur? Well, the Meridian and this one are the same model, albeit with different trims. But there's more: the Commander uses the platform of another well-known model as its base. It's the Compass, which the brand sells in Europe and much of the world. However, there are differences between them all, and those of the Indian model are easy to spot: a longer wheelbase and larger doors.
However, while the aesthetic similarities between the Commander and Meridian are clear , there will also be details that differentiate them. The headlights and LED daytime running lights are noticeably different, as they are integrated into the main unit rather than being a separate bar mounted on the bumper. The rest remains a mystery for now, but if they believe their design will appeal to the demanding Indian market, we're all for it.
To learn all the details, we'll have to wait for its official debut . It shouldn't be long before it's released, but as they say, "things move slowly in the corridors of power," especially at Stellantis…
