Toyota is Japan's leading car manufacturer and among the three largest in the world. Its vehicles are synonymous with reliability, safety, and quality. Thanks to this, they enjoy global popularity, with the Corolla being the best-selling car year after year. Furthermore, in recent releases, they have improved the design of their cars, perhaps the area they had most neglected compared to the competition.
The entry-level model in their range is the Aygo microcar . This vehicle is the result of a collaboration between Toyota and the PSA Group. It is developed and manufactured by the Japanese firm but powered by a PSA engine. Its design is very striking and its equipment is noteworthy . The Aygo's main drawback is its limited engine range, as it only offers a 1-liter, 70-hp gasoline engine with an automatic transmission.
The Toyota Yaris is the only city car on the market with a hybrid gasoline version , allowing it to circumvent emissions controls in major cities. Unlike its predecessors, it has improved in design, finish, and technology. Its only weakness compared to the competition is its interior space, a consequence of its compact exterior dimensions.
Toyota's flagship model in Europe is the Auris compact . The direct successor to the Corolla, it boasts a new and improved design, enhanced quality, more equipment options, and a hybrid gasoline version (140H e-CVT) . Its engine range doesn't include high-performance versions, but in addition to the hybrid, it offers a 112 hp diesel engine sourced from BMW.
With the Toyota Prius Hybrid, the Japanese automaker's commitment to clean vehicles has materialized. The new generation is built on the modern TNGA platform and, compared to its predecessor, offers improvements in interior space, dynamic handling, build quality, and technology. Its power has decreased from 136 hp in the previous version to 122 hp, but its efficiency and performance have been enhanced.
The Toyota Prius has a sibling in a minivan format with seven seats . The Prius+ is based on the previous generation Prius, but retains the hybrid powertrain (with battery improvements) and its low fuel consumption. Its exterior design has been updated to align with the brand's aesthetic language; in addition, it features improved technology and safety equipment.
To cover the D segment, Toyota offers the Avensis . The third generation of this model boasts a very attractive design in its two body styles (estate and 4-door hatchback). Inside, it stands out for its equipment, quality, and generous space . The engine range isn't the most extensive in the segment, but it includes both gasoline and diesel versions, the latter supplied by BMW.
Within Toyota, there's a special niche for minivans , and the Verso and Proace Verso are responsible for this. The Verso is built on the Avensis platform and features a revised design and engine range. The Proace Verso is a joint development between Toyota and the PSA Group; unlike the Aygo, it's manufactured and powered by the French group. Furthermore, the Proace Verso is also available as a commercial vehicle in three different sizes.
After a period without a sports car in its lineup , Toyota decided to launch the GT86 coupe . This model, co-developed with Subaru, features rear-wheel drive, a 200 hp four-cylinder boxer engine, and improved handling with its recent facelift, making it more direct and sporty.
The Toyota lineup is completed by the C-HR and RAV4 SUVs, the Land Cruiser off-road vehicle, and the Hilux pickup truck. The C-HR , the first of these , is built on the same platform as the Prius hybrid . In addition to sharing its structure, it is also powered by the same powertrain. It is presented as the first hybrid SUV coupe on the market, backed by its top-of-the-line features.
The RAV4 is the first SUV in history , even if other brands don't acknowledge it. The current generation is bigger, more powerful, more spacious, and better equipped. Its engine range includes gasoline, diesel, and hybrid versions , although there are rivals with higher power outputs. Reliability is one of the pillars that defines the RAV4's identity.
Above the RAV4, we have one of the best SUVs on the market. The Toyota Land Cruiser is a benchmark for reliability, off-road performance (it handles superbly on the road), and rugged design. The current generation is available in two body styles: a short wheelbase version and a longer, more spacious one (measuring 4,76 meters). Its engine range retains the same diesel unit , although fuel consumption has been reduced.
Closes the Toyota range pick-up Hilux. This is one of the best sellers in the world for its reliability, mechanical robustness and ability to function in the field and on the road. The latest generation has seen its design modified, its mechanical range (it only has a block with 2.4 liters of displacement and 150 hp) spends and pollutes less and its quality of execution has been increased. We can find it with three types of bodywork (single and extra cab and double cab).
TOYOTA STORY
Toyota is one of the main leaders of the global automobile market. In 2007 it was the first manufacturer worldwide by sales, taking the position from General Motors. in 2011 it lost the lead due to production problems after the Fukushima disaster.
