El ssangyong tivoli It is the model that gives access to the range of the South Korean manufacturer. It arrived on the market in 2015, joining the segment urban SUV and sporting a bodywork with a carefree design and European taste as weapons of war. In September 2019, it presented a slight restyling that incorporated slight aesthetic changes, improved equipment and mechanical novelties.

El funfair was the first model SsangYong which is developed after its acquisition by the Indian conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra. Your trade name "Tivoli" can be read in English (reversed) as «I Love it» (I'm lovin 'it).

SsangYong is a brand that bets everything on the SUV market. In its fleet of products you will not find other types of vehicles. As we have already said, the Tivoli is the smallest model of the house. Above him we find his older brothers, the Ssang Yong XLV, SsangYong Korando and SsangYong Rexton. The Tivoli is not only the smallest, it is also not the one with the least jacket capabilities along with the XLV.

Technical characteristics of the SsangYong Tivoli

Ssang Yong Tivoli G12T

In 2015 the Tivoli was in charge of launching a modern modular platform that allows its use in different models and that has been developed from scratch by SsangYong. In this case it is allowed to place it in the segment B-SUV, the fastest growing niche market in the EU, and the second most important market in terms of sales.

Its dimensions are ideal for urban environments and daily performances, although it does not forget long journeys. Its outer dimensions are: 4,22 meters long, 1,81 meters wide and 1,62 meters high. To these dimensions must be added a wheelbase of 2,6 meters, a standard measure within the B-SUV segment, although better used than in other cases.

The Tivoli's cabin is one of the largest in its segment, offering plenty of space for 5 occupants to comfortably travel. The capacity of its trunk, depending on the mechanics chosen and the type of traction, ranges between 427 liters of minimum capacity, and 1.115 liters of maximum capacity if we remove the second row seats.

Mechanical range and gearboxes of the SsangYong Tivoli

SsangYong Tivoli Engine

When it comes to mobilizing the SsangYong Tivoli, the offer focuses on a range that is not very extensive but well presented. In the mechanical portfolio we can find two gasoline versions, a diesel and two versions that use a bifuel system with LPG. Depending on the version, you can have a six-speed automatic transmission, or a six-speed manual transmission.

Where there is no option is in the drive system, all units have exclusively a 4 × 2 drive that sends all the power of the engine to the front axle. The range starts with the G12T of gas. A 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged block develops 128 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. Diesel follows, D16T, which raises the power to 136 horsepower with 300 Nm of torque.

The most performing unit is the G15T of gas. In this case, it uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 163 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Only the petrol blocks, G12T and G15T, can be associated with a bifuel LPG system that homologates the ECO label. It has a 50-liter gas tank and another annex with 46 liters of gas. It achieves a range of more than 1.000 kilometers.

Equipment of the SsangYong Tivoli

Ssangyong Tivoli Interior

From doors to inside, the SsangYong Tivoli is shown as an SUV typical of the segment to which it is directed. The quality of its materials is reasonable, although it uses hard plastics massively. The equipment range is structured around four versions: Line, Urban, Premium and Limited. These finishes affect only the system load and available motors. At an aesthetic level there are no great differences between one and another level.

From the basic ending, Line, the Tivoli can incorporate elements such as six airbags, SASS security system (with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning with stay assist, automatic anti-dazzle, sign recognition, fatigue warning and safe distance alert), cruise control, USB port, Bluetooth hands-free, front armrest, lights LED daytime running lights and descent control, among others.

Obviously, jumping to the higher levels is where all the possible cargo is shown. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, digital instrument panel with 10,25-inch screen, multimedia system with 8-inch touch panel, rear parking camera and the most complete safety equipment and driving assistants.

Video test of the SsangYong Tivoli

The SsangYong Tivoli according to Euro NCAP

The SsangYong Tivoli was subjected to the demanding impact tests organized by Euro NCAP in mid-2016. The note obtained by the Asian SUV was 4 stars leaving the score distributed as follows: In the event of an impact, protection for adult and child occupants is 82 and 62 percent, respectively. A 65 percent of protection is what it offers in the event of a pedestrian being hit. Finally, in terms of active driving aids, it obtained a discreet 43 percent protection. These valuations are still valid in the editions after 2018 as there are no changes in the structure of the vehicle.

The SsangYong Tivoli of Km 0 and second hand

Despite being on the market for a few years, the SsangYong Tivoli is nowhere near the most popular model on the market. Yes, it is one of the best-selling models of the house in our country, but in general terms, few units are sold., and therefore secondary sales channels do not have a long list of available models. In them we observe that the percentage of depreciation is slightly higher than that of its rivals, around 38%.

Taking a look at the used or second-hand market, it can be seen that the cheapest units are prior to the restyling of 2018. The lowest prices are around 9.000 euros for 2015 or 2016 models with a diesel engine, Premium finish and more than 100 thousand accumulated kilometers. The Km 0 channel is practically non-existent. The few units available correspond to the latest edition, and prices have slight discounts compared to factory models.

Rivals of the SsangYong Tivoli

The SsangYong Tivoli militates in the segment of urban SUVs, one of those that has grown the most in recent years, by number of members and sales. For both reasons, the competition in it is one of the highest in the market. Among the main rivals against whom he has to fight are the Peugeot 2008Citroen C3 AircrossRenault Captur, FIAT 500XHyundai Kona, KIA Sonic, Suzuki Vitara, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3 u Honda HR-V among others. In front of them, it provides a more Asian style, and a contained price, although it is not the cheapest in the segment.
