The new Renault symbioz Renault arrives on the market to strengthen the French manufacturer's range. It does so at the best time, as it is positioned in a market segment that continues to grow throughout Europe. It does so right next to another best-selling model for Renault, the Captur. Not in vain the Symbioz is the most familiar version of the car that revolutionized the B-SUV segment just taking advantage of the fact that the Nissan Juke He laid down his scepter some time ago.
We have tested this car:
VIDEO | Renault Symbioz: we test the new French SUV (called to be a best-seller)To be exact, the Symbioz is an SUV that plays halfway between those in the B and C segments. The reason for this is that its exterior size reaches up to 4,41 meters in length. In itself, it is the commercial substitute for another best-selling model from the house of the rhombus: the Mégane. "Traditional" compacts are no longer commercially attractive and most companies are replacing them with "more marketable" models that are also much more profitable...
Technical characteristics of the Renault Symbioz
The new first-generation Renault Symbios is a very attractive model and this is due to a greater effort on the part of the brand's designers since it is developed on a very versatile platform. This is the new CMF-B architecture. A newly designed platform that is shared with several models of the Nissan-Renault-Mitsubishi alliance, such as the Renault Clio and his rival, the Juke or Mitsubishi ASX.
Thanks to this new base we have more generous measurements: 4,41 meters long, 1,79 meters wide and 1,57 meters high. This measurement is accompanied by a wheelbase of 2,63 metres, which gives it greater habitability, with a maximum capacity of five passengers. The load capacity varies depending on the position of the rear row of seats, as it can be moved longitudinally.
In the version with the bench seat further back (without folding the seats) the Symbioz offers a volume of trunk that stands at 434 liters. If you choose to move the bench forward as far as possible (in the same position as the seats) it reaches 548 litres. Finally, it offers a total of 1.582 litres if you choose to fold the second row. Thanks to its qualities, it is even ahead of the Mégane, making it an excellent alternative to a compact car.
Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Renault Symbioz
The new Symbioz maintains the same mechanical range as its Captur sibling. However, it is limited to a single conventional hybrid engine called E-TECH. In a second commercial phase, the new Renault engines will be added to the range, especially those associated with Mild Hybrid and LPG technologies. For now, PHEV plug-in hybrid versions are not expected to arrive, which were also removed from the Captur after its restyling.
Therefore the range is made up of the version E-TECH full Hybrid with ECO label. It uses a four-cylinder, 1.598-cubic-centimeter gasoline engine that is associated with an electric motor and a 0,85 kWh battery. For its management, the French brand relies on an automatic transmission with four stages for the thermal engine and two for the electric one. The power to be managed is 145 CV which always reach the ground through the wheels of the front axle.
Renault Symbioz equipment
Following the trend of the Renault Captur, the Symbioz offers an excellent interior with plenty of technology and quality materials. On the other hand, the presentation of all the equipment elements and gadgets are at a high level, making the French B-SUV one of the best equipped in the segment. It has several lines of equipment which for Spain are structured around: Evolution, Techno, Esprit Alpine and Iconic.
From its initial finish it incorporates very interesting elements such as LED headlights, multifunction steering wheel, air conditioning, and a lot of safety equipment and driving assistance elementsBut that's just a small sample of what the Symbioz can offer. If we move on to the higher end trim levels in the range, we can see how the exterior appearance has improved slightly, but especially the interior.
The highest finishes give access to a bi-color body very representative of the B-SUV segment. The interior is packed with systems typical of higher segments such as: keyless entry and start, Solar roof with Solarbay technology, digital instrument panel, multimedia system with a screen of up to 10,4 inches, navigator with Google technology, dual-zone climate control, parking camera or heated steering wheel.

Renault Symbioz according to Euro NCAP
Safety has always been very important to Renault, although in recent years their models have gone from better to worse. They were the first to achieve the maximum Euro NCAP certification, and its famous five stars. The situation has changed with the Symbioz has to settle for four out of five possible in crash tests. The ratings by sections have been copied from those of its brother Captur: 73% protection for adult passengers, 80% protection for child passengers, 76% vulnerability in the event of a collision and 69% in ADAS systems performance.
The Km 0 and Second Hand Renault Symbioz
The Renault Symbioz is not yet a best-seller, but the diamond-shaped house hopes that it will be so, as it is positioned in one of the most important segments of the market. Its arrival on the market took place in the second half of 2024 and this makes the markets of Km0 and second hand are not yet well stocked with units for sale. However, the data of depreciation should be low just as it happens with its brother Captur, since both models are the same.
If we take a look at Km0 market We can see that existing units have prices around 32 thousand euros. As for the second-hand channel, we also find a fair catalogue of options for sale. Dealers still do not have much stock and therefore there are not many units. In any case, the prices are not very attractive, since they start at over 30 thousand euros.
Renault Symbioz rivals
El The B-SUV segment is one of those with the most models and rivalsSince the success of the Juke, all the car manufacturers have been eager to conquer a niche that has become the most commercial one in Europe. For this reason, the Symbioz has to face a lot of competition.
