Polestar 's story is a familiar one in these changing times. Increasingly stringent global emissions and pollution regulations have forced manufacturers to introduce their own ranges of electric vehicles. Many have opted to create entirely new brands to differentiate these electric cars from more conventional products, as is the case here.

Polestar is Volvo 's electric vehicle brand , although its origins have little to do with such efficient mobility. We first heard its name in the late 2000s . Volvo considered it its motorsport division, and thanks to this, we witnessed the launch of incredible products like the Volvo C30 Polestar and the Volvo S60 Polestar. These were radical versions of their corresponding road cars, pushing the limits of the internal combustion engines they housed.

But times change, and so do needs and demands. Little by little, the brand has redirected its course toward electrification . In 2018, the Volvo S60 was the first to use the terminology to refer to its high-performance plug-in hybrid version, as it's important to remember that Polestar always delivers performance far superior to Volvo's usual standard.

In the fall of 2017, Volvo and Geely, the Chinese company that owns the Swedish brand, announced to the world that the Polestar family would become a brand focused exclusively on electric technology . After a few prototypes, their first "commercial" product, the Polestar 1 , arrived on the market . A high-performance coupé with plug-in hybrid technology and over 600 horsepower. In 2019, the second model, the Polestar 2 , was offered, this time with 100% electric technology.

In the future, the electric division will gain more prominence as more electric models are launched. In the coming years, we will see models like the Polestar 3 SUV and the highly anticipated Polestar 4, which is expected to be the convertible version of their first model. Their factory is located in a modern and revolutionary, recently built facility in the city of Chengdu, China . From there, the products are exported worldwide.
