A great SUV that will come to stand up to the European premium firms with a familiar, technological and long-range format.
The Ioniq 9 will be based on the prototype presented at the 2021 Los Angeles Motor Show called Hyundai SEVEN Concept. Its commercial launch is scheduled for 2025, and it is considered the most expensive Hyundai ever produced. Its size places it above the Hyundai Santa Fe.
Technical characteristics of the Hyundai Ioniq 9
Like the other members of the successful electric family, The IONIQ 9 is based on the E-GMP modular platform specially developed for new generation vehicles. It is the same base used by other products such as Hyundai ioniq 5, the Kia EV6 or the KIA EV9, with shared development. In this case, it's stretched to the maximum extent possible.
It is an SUV worthy of the D segment, positioning itself as the largest Hyundai of all except the Hyundai Staria. Outwardly it reaches 5,06 meters long, 1,98 meters wide (without mirrors) and 1,79 meters high. To these levels must be added a wheelbase of 3,13 meters.
A very generous wheelbase allows for different seating combinations across its three rows. The IONIQ 9 comes standard with seven seats, but can be reduced to six in some trim levels. In this case, the second row can be folded down. In terms of cargo capacity, Hyundai announces a minimum volume of 908 liters.. To this we must add another front trunk with an additional 52 liters.
Mechanical range and gearboxes of the Hyundai Ioniq 9

Having a platform we're already familiar with allows us to recognize versions we've already seen in its smaller siblings, although the IONIQ 9 reserves the largest battery Hyundai has ever equipped. Its format is exclusively electric without the help of combustion engines or plug-in hybrid schemes.Power is directed to two or all four wheels.
Hyundai has announced three initial versions. The entry-level model offers a single rear motor with 218 horsepower and 350 Nm of torqueThe mid-range version integrates a second engine block on the front axle for a maximum output of 313 horsepower and 605 Nm of torque. Finally, the highest-performance version, known as the Performance, offers two engines with 435 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.
All units are powered by a 110,3 kWh gross capacity battery that offers a maximum approved range of 620 kilometers. Thanks to an 800-volt electrical system, charging powers of up to 350 kW in direct current and up to 22 kW in alternating current are available. This means that the battery can go from 0 to 80% of the charge in less than 26 minutes.

The Ioniq 9 is considered the best car Hyundai has ever made. This condition is mainly noticeable in the passenger compartment, where there is a high-quality environment, both in materials and presentation. The layout is very similar to what we can see in other units of the Korean brand's electric family.
As is customary with Hyundai, the equipment range is divided into different levels or finishes. From lowest to highest endowment we find: Star, Energy and ECalligraphyThe latter is the only one that allows you to choose between a six- or seven-seat cabin. The differences between them lie in the basic equipment, although aesthetic and material modifications can also be seen.
The technology integrated in any case is significant. Such formats are not easy to place on the market. Although SUVs dominate all segments, the larger models seem to be aimed at a wealthier buyer. Nonetheless, the Ioniq 9 will have to face models that have not yet seen the light and of which we know nothing. Yes, we can mention some that already exist, such as the Tesla Model X o mercedes equv, the only ones that currently have an electric format with capacity for seven passengers.
