Citroën C5

El Citroën C5 It is the D-segment sedan from the French manufacturer. The C5 saga, currently in its third generation launched in 2007, began in 2000 to replace the Xantia. The Citroën C5 and its predecessors have always stood out for being one of the most comfortable cars on the market and, without a doubt, the most comfortable among its direct rivals. This is due to the hydropneumatic suspension so characteristic of Citroën, although in the current generation it is only equipped with the most equipped models, using a conventional spring and shock absorber suspension in the simplest finishes.

Despite the fact that the Citroën C5 continues to maintain a current image and an interior at the level of its rivals, with good finishes and abundant technology, the years on the market and the decline in sales of this type of general sedan are taking their toll, with quite low sales in the Spanish market. The C5 range has two bodies, the saloon and the familiar Tourer and in February 2014 the C5 CrossTourer, a more country-looking variant of the Tourer.

The mechanical range is quite complete and offers two gasoline and four diesel engines. The first have 1.6 liters of displacement in atmospheric and turbo version with 120 and 156CV. The access diesel mechanics corresponds to the 1.6CV 115 HDi, followed by the 2.0 and 140CV 163 as well as the 2.2CV 204-liter biturbo. The six-speed automatic gearbox is optional on the turbo petrol and 160CV diesel, while it is standard on the more powerful engine. The 1.6 HDi can be equipped with a piloted manual gearbox. Previously there was a 6-liter V3.0 diesel with 240CV.

The main rivals of this French sedan are the Renault Laguna, Ford Mondeo, Peugeot 508 y Opel Insignia.
