After a few years in which BYD tried to conquer the European market with low-quality products, the Chinese brand remotes its history in the Old Continent with a totally rejuvenated and improved range. The product catalog has grown with interesting electrical innovations. Within the range the BYD Inn It stands out as the largest and most luxurious sedan in the house.

Although it does not arrive in Europe until the year 2023, the Han is originally launched in China in the year 2020 under the name e9. It stands out for its sharp and elegant design that has little or nothing to detract from its European rivals. Below him we find other models of the house such as the BYD SEAL or the smallest BYD Atto 3, the most popular and cheapest SUV in the range.

Technical characteristics of the BYD Han

Despite the fact that in Europe it arrives as a 100% electric model, in China it offers different electrified versions. Under its body is the e-Platform 2.0 modular architecture, developed particularly for electrical. It is exclusive to the saloon, since the rest of the range is supported by the e-Platform 3.0 chassis.

As the flagship of the house that it is, the Han enters a segment mainly intended for large German sedans. Her exact measurements are: 4,99 meters long, 1,91 meters wide and 1,49 meters high. To these levels must be added a wheelbase of 2,92 meters and a weight of more than two tons (2.325 kg). Its aerodynamic design allows it to offer a drag coefficient of 0,23.

Thanks to the generous wheelbase, three adult passengers can sit comfortably in the second row of seats. Behind them is a trunk of restricted proportions with a minimum volume of 410 liters. The loading mouth is somewhat narrow to introduce bulky objects. Another drawback is that the trunk cannot be expanded since the rear bench is completely fixed.

BYD Han mechanical range

BYD wants the Han to become its representative model and for that it must offer not only good design and excellent habitability, it also has to offer good benefits. The mechanical range focuses exclusively on a single high power version. The main drawback compared to other European manufacturers is the lack of customization.

The BYD Han has a scheme of twin dual engine, one motor for each axis. Each unit develops 245 horsepower, but together they offer up to 517 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. It is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3,9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 180 km/h. The force of the motor is distributed between the two axes.

The engines are powered by a LFP battery (Lithium-Iron-Phosphate) manufactured by BYD. It is located between the axles and has a gross capacity of 85,4 kWh. In the WLTP cycle, it homologates a autonomy of 521 kilometers with a consumption of 18,5 kWh/100 km. For recharging, it opts for high-power systems: up to 120 kW in direct current and up to 11 kW in alternating current.

BYD Han Equipment

Little by little, Chinese manufacturers have been improving the quality of their vehicles. Not only in terms of design or mechanics, but also the finishes and equipment. The Han, as a good flagship of the house, offers a very well presented interior, both in qualities and technologies. From the inside out, it transmits a premium sensation that deepens the general comfort of all passengers.

Although BYD is unable to match the extensive customization offered by its European rivals, The Chinese brand offers two levels of finishes in Spain: Base and Emerald Green Edition. The main differences between them lie in the equipment, although we can also observe notable changes in terms of details and personalized elements.

As far as equipment is concerned, the Han offers the latest advances of the house that have nothing to envy to that of its rivals. The extensive standard equipment stands out. Elements such as: Full LED headlights, keyless access and start, Head-Up Display, electric and heated front seats, digital instrumentation, multimedia system with 15,6-inch touch panel, wireless charger, connectivity for mobile devices and a full team of assistants with level 2 autonomous driving.

BYD Han Rivals

When push comes to shove, BYD is very clear that it wants to position itself in the middle of the European market. Right on the border between premium and generalist. By size, the Han could be considered a superior saloon, but its price defines it as a generalist model. Thus we can find many rivals in sight such as: Hyundai ioniq 6, mercedes eqe, Tesla Model S or The Audi e-tron GT. All of them similar by size or price.

BYD Han Price

When push comes to shove, BYD knows it has to offer a lot at a reasonable price to win sales from its rivals. In Spain the BYD Han is available from 69.990 euros, without offers or promotions. It is a lot of car for that price if we take into account its most direct competition. The most expensive model in the family is the Han Emerald Green Edition, whose basic price is 74.000 euros, without offers or promotions.
